Operation Love is in Anderson, Indiana, providing goods to the community of Madison County. Offering a program called “Help for Today & Hope for Tomorrow,” to help give the basic needs that people need throughout Anderson and beyond. ARF was established in 1998 by Terri Panzi. She was an X-ray tech at Ball Memorial in Muncie, Indiana. At first, she was the only person who was cleaning, feeding, and taking care of the animals. Since then, ARF has taken in homeless animals and helped low-income families by offering Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana (SNSI) and Spay-Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP). On Saturday, April 19, 2025, volunteers from the Reach Yorktown Ministry made efforts to help residents of Mt. Pleasant, in Yorktown, IN, with food pantry offerings. Reach Yorktown Ministry is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing hunger, education, medication assistance, and other personal needs through Christian love. For eight years, on every third Saturday, volunteers have helped residents shop for items they need, striving to provide community service and support families through financial struggles. They provide a varied class program with price options available for all levels of interest, ability, and economic situation. Strike-Out Arthritis is an annual philanthropic event hosted nationwide by Alpha Omicron Pi sorority chapters. This event ranges from softball and baseball to kickball, 5-K runs, volleyball, and bowling. This year, the Kappa Kappa Chapter hosted a kickball tournament April 5, 2025, in the Field and Sports Building on Ball State University’s campus. They raised about $2,700, which will be donated to the Arthritis Foundation. This sisterhood prides itself in helping others, especially those who suffer from juvenile arthritis. “JA affects one in four children in the United States. It’s not just a grandparent’s disease,” Alexia Pantell, chapter director of philanthropy, said. (Video by Meghan Sawitzke)
On Sunday, April 13, 2025, volunteers from the Civic Impact Network made cleanup efforts at the John M. Craddock Wetland Nature Preserve in Muncie, IN. The Civic Impact Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Hoosiers to participate in civic opportunities and contribute to community development. Their mission is to promote community collaboration and leadership development, empowering others to contribute to their community. Ultimately, the Civic Impact Network collected 12 trash bags, thereby reducing waste in the nature preserve, with plans to host future cleanup events. (Photos by Liz Peterson)
