Habitat for humanity

On April 4, 2024, volunteers from the Tuesday Thursday team, TNT Crew, came to help rehabilitate an old farmhouse in Muncie, IN. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian organization to help provide shelter and stability for families in the community that desperately need it. Volunteers come from all different backgrounds from having a lot of previous experience to none at all. Within the organization, members create new relationships and help to spread Christianity in a charitable way. Habitat for Humanity provides for an amazing way to give back to the community in ways that truly make a difference to those in need. Video by Lanie Guinn

Muncie animal rescue fund

Muncie’s Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) has had the privilege of giving hundreds of cats and dogs their fur-ever home since 1998. Every animal that is brought in is photographed before being up for adoption. However, these animals are sometimes scared or confused upon intake and want to be left alone. They don’t get a photo on the ARF website and have a lesser chance of being adopted. These pictures give such animals another chance to capture the attention of potential adopters — check them out! operation black out at arf

April 6, 2024 – On Saturday, members of the Operation Black Out dance troupe from Ball State University volunteered their time at a local animal rescue. The Animal Rescue Fund is a non-profit organization that helps shelter, treat, and socialize dogs and cats. The operation is founded on a web of community support, with volunteering and good-will donations at the center. ARF’s complex consists of Ollie’s Bed and Biscuits, The Catty House, an administrative building, Jeff’s House, and the Bark Park. They also maintain a thrift store in Yorktown and a spay and neuter clinic in Muncie on Bethel Ave. All in all, the efforts of the OBO volunteers aided the clean and healthy environment that the ARF culminates. The dancers helped pick up trash, remove dog waste, and clean the lawn of sticks. Their effort symbolizes the volunteer spirit that Shoot for Good showcases in our greater Muncie community. Special thanks to Doug White for his dedication to the mission of animal health and safety and the coordination of such events. Photos by Jason Doudt and Jessica Poiry

Minnetrista Farmer’s Market

Minnetrista Museum and Gardens holds an indoor farmer’s market during the months November – April while it’s so cold outside. This was the last farmer’s market until shoppers can expect to be outside, hopefully in warmer weather. The market had an amazing selection of baked goods, meats, jewelry, mugs, etc. The farmer’s market is not the only community gathering event Minnetrista holds, they have the Bob Ross experience, different shows throughout the year and beautiful gardens to visit. The park has been a part of the Muncie community for over 35 years now, so don’t be afraid to stop in. Photos by Kyle Atkisson
