John Taylor, land manager of field stations and Environmental Education Center, volunteers his time Saturday, April 14 to educate people on the wildflowers in Christy Woods, as well as Ball State’s legacy of protecting nature. Taylor started working at Ball State in 2001, when his primary job was to remove shrubs, for example honeysuckle, which he removed during the walk. During the walks, Taylor bring flower cards for people to look at and identify flowers. Taylor also showed the Teaching and Research Greenhouse, which is managed by Sharyl Grant, not pictured. In the Greenhouse, students grow some herbs for Woodworth Dining Hall and for students to study plants and how they grow in different climates. Photo by Breanna Daugherty
