On Saturday, April 19, 2025, Mango’s Miracles put on its first-ever Movie with Meows, a community event where families can come and catch a movie while cuddling with adoptable cats. The movie of the afternoon was Disney’s “Oliver & Company,” and the featured felines were Magnolia and her kittens – all named after types of trees. Mango’s Miracles partnered with West Side Church of Christ in Yorktown, Indiana to house the event. The founder of Mango’s Miracles, Lindsey Wright, hopes to make this a regular event, as the organization is always taking in new animals. Mango’s Miracles is a 501c3 non-profit animal rescue that takes in abandoned or stray animals. Although their main concern is cats, the organization also helps find homes for dogs, rabbits, turtles, and other animals. The organization’s name is for the late cat, Mango, who belonged to Lindsey Wright. Her love for Mango was so strong that it inspired her to found this organization. Since its founding, hundreds of animals have been helped and placed into loving homes. Every Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., aptly named Feline Fridays, the public is invited to visit the organization on West Kilgore Avenue to cuddle with the adoptable cats. You can visit their Facebook and website to learn more information or make a donation that goes toward vet costs, food, and other needed supplies. (Photos by Eleni Bow)

Members of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 22, Muncie, IN, were busy conducting their annual “Scouting for Food” drive. On a rainy Saturday morning they were picking up donations at homes where they dropped off bags the previous week, retrieving the canned/non perishable food. The program encourages Scouts to demonstrate helpfulness and community service by collecting food for those in need.
